With August just around the corner, the MLB season is down to about 62 games left in the season for most clubs. I have compiled a list of 5 things that could go down and make for an interesting ride the rest of the way. Here we go.
Yankees miss the playoffs
The Bronx Bombers made a huge trade with the White Sox that added depth for them at third base as well as in the rotation. They have also been linked with Sonny Gray and Yonder Alonso. They are making it clear that they are not in a rebuild year and want to make a push to try and play in the World Series. However with the offensive disappearance of Aaron Judge, this is a completely different baseball team. I predict the Yankees to completely fall apart leaving the front office scratching their heads and wondering what happened, as they miss the playoffs for a second consecutive year.
Washington Wins World Series
At this point in the season the Nationals have a very cozy 12 game lead on the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. It looks to be inevitable that they will once again be playing October baseball. Last year they were bested by the Dodgers in the first round. This year will be a completely different look for them. They will coast into the World Series after beating the Dodgers in the NLCS. From there they will beat the Red Sox in 6 games, and become the World Champs.
Phillies Don’t Finish Last
Look, these guys have a Jr Varsity B team offense and problems within the clubhouse about guys not playing hard enough. Can’t blame them, they are awful. Despite all of this they will not be sitting dead last on October 1st. That shameful award will go to the Chicago White Sox, and they will soak it in as they look to completely turn things around in the 2018 season.
Cody Bellinger Hits Most Home Runs
The kid just turned 22 on July 13th, he is playing on a red hot Dodgers team, and he is exceeding all expectations that were set for him when he first got called up. Through 297 at bats this year he has 28 bombs. The two guys tied for first place have 342 and 366 at bats respectively. They both have 32 home runs. Bellinger will continue dazzle, leading into the playoffs and the young star will take the crown of most home runs in 2017 with 44 long balls.
200 for Altuve
Altuve will record 200 hits for the 5th consecutive season. That’s it. This guy is a monster.
