Top 5 Add/Drop: Playoffs Round 2

Round one is in the books! Congratulations to those who are advancing and better luck next year to those who aren’t. Naturally, ya boy is moving onto the second round and chasing down my second straight league championship (not a big deal).

So here are the newly top added and top dropped players, make your decision accordingly.

Matt Olsen, OAK +38.5% – Current Ownership = 44.5%

Matt Olsen has been a fantastic fantasy baseball player over the past two months. In the month of August ,Olsen slashed .305/.359/.661 – 7 HRs, 14 RBIs, and 10 runs. Yes, those numbers don’t actually jump off the page, but his August has translated perfectly into September. In 10 September games, Olsen has a .308 average to go along with 6 HRs, 11 RBIs, and 9 runs. He is hot right now so if you need a corner infield, pick him up.

Jose Reyes, NYM +27.0% – Current Ownership = 41.3%

We will make this quick and simple. Since coming off the DL, Reyes has a .345/.446/.582 with 3 homers, 10 RBIs, and 16 runs. He is having a surge right now, ride it till it dies. Reyes has been known to be a streaky player, so don’t be expecting too much.

Brandon Woodruff, MIL +25.9% – Current Ownership = 30.0%

I don’t have much to say about Woodruff. I wouldn’t play him unless the matchups work and if he is a two-starter. He has been pretty great over the past 4 outings allowing only 4 runs over 19.2 Innings. Grab him if you want, or don’t. Doesn’t matter

Jose Martinez, StL +24.3% – Current Ownership = 25.8%

Martinez is currently riding a 10 game hitting streak where he is slashing .484/.529/.871 along with 3 HRs, 8 RBIs, and 9 runs. He will be locked in at 1st for the foreseeable future. If you need a 1st baseman, lock him in.

Doug Fister, BOS +23.8% – Current Ownership = 44.5%

Fister is on fire! In 4 starts, he has pitched 30 innings allowing just 5 total runs and earning a spectacular 1.50 ERA and 0.73 WHIP. He has been a fantastic fantasy waiver wire grab so ride him until the flame dies out.

Jimmy Nelson, MIL -30.6% – Current Ownership = 55.1%

Injury number one: Rotator cuff and out for the season. Nelson is among a long list of starters who have been shut down for the remainder of the season due to injury. Drop him.

Danny Salazar, CLE -24.4% – Current Ownership = 53.6%

Injury number 2: Elbow and moved to the bullpen for the season. Salazar is a strikeout artist and has amazing potential for fantasy stardom. The injury plague has screwed his 2017 so hopefully he can figure things out and come back strong in 2018.

Carlos Rodon, CWS -19.6% – Current Ownership = 23.1%

Injury number 3: Shoulder inflammation and done for the season. I see a trend here, don’t you? Rodon was riding a decent second half and was looking to finally put his injuries behind him. Well, that didn’t last long. He is shut down, so drop him.

Brad Ziegler, MIA -16.7% – Current Ownership = 23.5%

Injury number 4: Back issues but should return. The fact that he is currently on the DL and there is 2 weeks of fantasy, doesn’t work in Brad’s favor. Kyle Barraclough will slid over to the 9th inning role and if he thrives, Ziegler could be useless.

Billy Hamilton, CIN -16.6% – Current Ownership = 72.5%

Injury number 5: fractured thumb and most likely out for the remainder of the fantasy season. Billy boy is good for one thing, and one thing only: steal. Now that he can’t even run for you, he is virtually useless. Drop him and look to add Cameron Maybin to replace steals.

As you can see the injury bug has riddled most of the top dropped players, but hopefully those top added can counter this problem. I added Matt Olsen, Lucas Giolito and Sean Manaea this week which hopefully helps me back into the championship game! Check back next week for our final round of add/drops!
